From Nex to Genting Lane in a Taxi Style
Superb Navigation Skill of a Taxi Driver
It was consider a partial peak hour which I usually start my ubering in the morning at around 0930am.
This time round, I got a request from NEX, Serangoon (one of the hottest request area in the northeast side)
"Please go to Genting Lane via Wan Tho Ave", said the lady who just came on board.
"Sure, no problem!", I said it with confident as I know where exactly this location is.
However, when I take a look at Uber's GPS, it was prompting me to go MacPherson road from Upper Serangoon road as shown below.

As I usually "switch off" my brain by following Uber's GPS when I'm ubering, I asked the lady out from my curiosity, "How did you know about this short cut?"
"From taxi driver! They are the best!" the lady said blissfully.
"Usually, in the morning peak, there will be around 5 - 10 minutes jam along Upper Serangoon Road. So the best way to reach my workplace fast is to go via Wan Tho Ave then make a right turn to Jalan Kemboja to Genting Road." She explained.

Becoming a Superb Navigator
In order for me to become a better Uber driver, I took down note of what she said.
Indeed, we avoided the jam that morning and arrived her destination in a fast and smooth manner.
And by the way, this is not the first time I got passenger compliment about the navigation skill of a taxi driver when they use short cut to get to their destination fast.
No wonder Uber pays good incentives to woo them over to it's platform.
So uber drivers out there, if you guys want to earn good money via ubering, think it's time to build up your skill in navigation instead of blindly following the GPS which at times bring you going one big round.
Conclusion: Being superb in navigation equates to better earnings due to less petrol consumed and more time for more trips!
